Kučerová, Klára ; Nekola, Martin (advisor) ; Ochrana, František (referee)
This diploma thesis focuses on the evaluation of Act No. 65/2017 Coll., The Act on the protection of health from the harmful effects of addictive substances with emphasis on use of tobacco products. The evaluation of this Act was approached on the basis of the principles of summative evaluation, which focused on the impacts of the health protection Act and on the fulfilment of its set objectives. Apart from evaluations, the theoretical and factual basis of the work includes mainly tobacco control in the Czech Republic. The practical part of this thesis is based on quantitative research that uses secondary data. This research was subsequently supplemented by information from semi-structured expert interviews. The analysis is focused on the evaluation of a total of fifteen indicators, which represent areas on which the adoption of the examined law may have had some impact. These indicators mainly concern the area of smoking and health, but also the tobacco industry, hospitality, and the state budget. The evaluation of the indicators is based on a comparison of two time series, while one of them shows the real situation and the other extrapolates the situation without the adoption of the examined law. The results of the analysis were subsequently discussed in relation to the fulfilment of the set...

Čerňanská, Jitka ; Kulhavá, Miluše (advisor) ; Burišková, Klára (referee)
The aim of this work was to map the extent of knowledge about active and passive smoking and its effects on human organism between paramedic employees of Emergency Medical Service in the Ústí nad Labem Region, coupled together with an evaluation of their interest in further education in this area. Lectures about smoking and its effects, realized at their workplaces, are not expected nor demanded. Theoretical part of this thesis gives an account of tobacco history, describes constituents of tobacco smoke and its effects on human organism. Furthermore this work deals with possible methods for quitting the smoking, possible prevention approaches and valid legislation in Czech Republic, dealing with the regulation of smoking. The final theoretical part of this work tries to define characteristics and possible dangers of employment at Emergency Medical Service. The practical part of this thesis was conducted through quantitative research, realized by questionnaires being distributed to different Emergency Medical Service stations, investigating attitudes and knowledge of Emergency Medical Service in Ústí nad...
Factors affecting mortality in countries with the highest life expectancy at birth with focus on the influence of tobacco smoking
Liška, Jiří ; Hulíková Tesárková, Klára (advisor) ; Burcin, Boris (referee)
Factors affecting mortality in countries with the highest life expectancy at birth with focus on the influence of tobacco smoking Abstract This bachelor thesis focuses on the factors influencing mortality levels, specifically analysing the influence of tobacco smoking in countries with highest life expectancies - Japan and Switzerland. Trends in smoking prevalence rates from the mid-20th century to the present are analysed. In both countries, the prevalence of smoking is higher in men than in women, but the gap is narrowing over time. Then, author constructs life tables using data from WHO Mortality Database and analyses mortality in Japan and Switzerland between 1995 and 2017, focusing on life expectancy at birth and at ages of 35 and 65 years. The actual development of these indicators is compared with two hypothetical developments, assuming the elimination of smoking attributable mortality and a constant level of smoking attributable mortality. The results indicate that high life expectancies in Japan and Switzerland are not caused by low numbers of smokers in these countries. Dvořáková, Eliška ; Rychtaříková, Jitka (advisor) ; Kurtinová, Olga (referee)
Health determinants and self-perceived life expectancy Abstract The bachelor thesis addresses the relationship between selected determinants for people aged 65 and over, and the statements about their self-perceived health, in 2014. EHIS and EU-SILC surveys were used as source information. Selected health determinants belong to lifestyle factors and therefore can be influenced by one's behaviour. These determinants include body mass index, smoking habits and alcohol drinking. The thesis is based on an international comparison of selected health determinants and mortality indicators obtained from Eurostat data on the 28 member states of the European Union. Keywords: health determinants, self-perceived health, body mass index, smoking habits, alcohol drinking, EU28
